Milestones
Tick off what your child can do, celebrate it, and find play ideas for what's next.
Ticking a milestone
Open the Milestones tab. Milestones are grouped as Earlier, Now and Coming up, across six areas: Connecting, Talking and listening, Thinking and playing, Moving, Busy hands and Looking after myself.
- Tap a circle to tick it with today's date. Tap the date afterwards to change it.
- To tick several on one date, tap Select, choose them, then Set date.
- Tap the pencil on a milestone to add notes, photos, a place and tags.
Your own milestones
Tap Add a milestone of your own, give it a type (or Other), and save. Each milestone is logged once.
Is this happening?
4D Ages sometimes asks about a milestone that's around your child's age. Tap Yes! if you've seen it, or Not yet. No pressure either way: every child grows at their own pace.
Play ideas
Tap Reinforce for gentle "Try this together" ideas in each area. The ages shown are typical ranges for 0 to 36 months, never deadlines. Every child grows at their own pace; if you have questions, talk to your health visitor or doctor.
Typical ages are based on published developmental guidance, including the CDC's milestone checklists and the WHO Motor Development Study. Play ideas use information from the CDC's “Learn the Signs. Act Early.” and from nhs.uk. Contains public sector information licensed under the Open Government Licence v3.0.
Firsts and lasts
The same tab has Firsts & lasts, with ideas for what to record: the first smile, the last bottle.
Untick by mistake?
Unticking removes the milestone's notes, photos and tags too, so 4D Ages asks first.
