First foods and allergens

Keep track of the foods your baby has tried, the 14 main allergens, and any reactions.

Logging a food

  1. Tap +, then Food tried (or Milestones, then Foods & allergens).
  2. Tap a food and Log a try, or Log a meal to tick several at once.
  3. Say how much, how they liked it, and whether there was any reaction.
  4. Tap Save the try. You can also make it a post, to add a photo.

Allergens

4D Ages lists the UK's 14 main allergens, based on NHS weaning advice. A food counts as done after 3 tries with no reaction (you can change this in Settings). This is a way to keep track, not medical advice. It reminds you to wait a couple of days between new allergens, and to keep giving the ones they've had.

Find foods

Search, or filter by Trying, Not tried, Done or Reactions.

For the doctor

Doctor summary makes a summary you can share or download. Reactions also appear in Menu, Health.

Safety

Call 999 if your baby has swelling of the lips, mouth or throat, trouble breathing, or goes floppy or pale. For anything else, ask your GP or call 111. 4D Ages is a record for you, not medical advice.

Who sees it

Foods and allergens are only for parents in the app: family members can't see them. A book can show a "Foods I tried" page only if you choose it: in a Kid & Family book, turn on Foods tried under What goes in. It lists the foods and whether they liked them, never any reaction. Books made before this choice keep their food pages, so check the Review step before you share one.
